Gig Rigs and Pedalboards
Stage rigs are as individual as the players who use them.  In the end, the goal is simple ... build a stage rig that sounds great and is easy to navigate.

So how do you go about building such a rig?  Well, let's first look at the signal flow through an effects chain.  Here is a typical arrangement:
Different effects chains can be constructed to create different tones.  For example, the rig may contain both an overdrive pedal and a distortion pedal (non-linear devices).  It may also contain a wah, or graphic EQ (filtering devices), and a phase shifter, chorus, or digital delay (time domain devices).
So, what is a pedalboard switcher and what can it do for you?  A pedalboard switcher is a device that enables you to assemble multiple effects chains on your pedalboard and conveniently select them onstage via footswitches.  The Amigo True Bypass Pedalboard Switcher provides two independent effects loops and a bypass mode.

Let's look at an example.  Say I want to have a straight connection to my amp, a crunch mode (consisting of an overdrive pedal), and a lead mode (consisting of a distortion pedal, phase/chorus, and a digital delay).  It is easy to accomplish this with the Amigo.  You first connect your "Crunch" effects chain to Effects Loop 1, and then connect your "Lead" effects chain to Effects Loop 2.  Bypass mode is available automatically.  Here is a switching map for this example:

Loop 1: Crunch

Loop 2: Lead

Let's say you are currently in Crunch Mode. To switch to Lead, just press the Loop Select footswitch.  Press it again to switch back to Crunch.  Get the idea?  No more tap dances on stage!
